Happy Wednesday, Vineyard Family!
The King Has Come — And He’s Coming Again
Every week of our fall series, we’ve followed the footsteps of a King who reigns in ways the world never expects. A King who heals through wounds and rules through surrender. A King who restores what’s been broken and confronts what’s fake.
This Sunday, as we close The Coming King, The Surrendered Servant, we lift our eyes from the cross to look towards the horizon. From the King who came in humility, to the King who will come again in glory!
The Prophet Zechariah saw Him riding on a donkey. The Apostle John saw Him riding on a white horse. We live in the time between those two rides, the space between redemption accomplished and redemption completed.
While this is a tension-filled with joy, it’s also easy to lose heart in that space. The world still feels noisy. The headlines still sound like storms. The kingdoms of this world still shout for our allegiance... But the promise that carries us is this: The King hasn’t stepped off the throne.
He reigns now, even when the clouds roll in.
This reality means that Advent isn’t a sentimental countdown to Christmas. It’s a season that reminds us to live awake. To stay ready, to hope boldly, and to trust deeply.
Maybe this week you’ve felt the tension, the “already and not yet.” You know Christ has come… but you’re still waiting for peace, for healing, for the world to look like His Kingdom. I think that is where faith grows: in the waiting.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer once said,
“The celebration of Advent is possible only for those who are troubled in soul, who know themselves to be poor and imperfect, and who look forward to something greater to come.”
This is us! A people waiting for the King; not in fear, but in faith!
Spiritual Practice: The Prayer of Readiness
Each morning this week, whisper this prayer aloud:
“King Jesus, You reign here and now. I welcome Your peace into this day. I surrender what I can’t control. Make me ready for Your coming, and help me live today like You’re already here.”
Let those words anchor you in the truth that Advent begins not with noise, but with noticing.
This Sunday
We’ll close our series with a message called “The King Is Coming.” We’ll look at how His first coming in humility points to His final return in glory, and how, in between, we live as people of His Kingdom right here in Billings.
Come ready to worship. Come ready to hope. Come ready to remember: The King has come, the King is coming again, and even now, He reigns.
