Last Sunday, Jacob walked us through a passage that can easily sound like it is only about husbands and wives, but he reminded us that Paul was pointing toward something much bigger: “Human marriage is the metaphor. The marriage of Christ and his church is the real thing.”

That reminder fits with so much of what we have been walking through together in Ephesians. Paul has given us a lot to consider about what it means to be formed as the Church: who we are in Christ, how we love, how we live together, and how following Jesus begins to shape the ordinary parts of our lives.

As we come to the final part of Ephesians this Sunday, Paul reminds us that none of this was meant to depend on our ability to hold everything together on our own.

“Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.”

There will be things that challenge us, wear us down, and remind us that our own strength has limits. Standing firm is not about pretending otherwise. It is about learning to depend on the One who is stronger than we are.

As you prepare for Sunday, consider this question:

Where might God be inviting me to depend on His strength instead of my own?

This week, bring that place to Him in prayer and ask Him to meet you there.

Stay churchy.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
