Hello Vineyard Fam,

I hope your week is rolling along well! This week isn’t just any ordinary week — it’s a holiday week!

This Sunday, we celebrate Pentecost, the day the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Church (Acts 2). It’s more than a historical event, it marks the birth of the Church, the beginning of God’s people empowered to carry His presence into the world.

At Pentecost, the Spirit didn’t just fall on the apostles — He came upon everyone in the room. Men and women, young and old — all were filled, all were empowered, and all were sent. That same Spirit is still moving today.

In the Vineyard, we often pray, “Come, Holy Spirit” — and it’s not a formality. It’s the cry of our hearts to be filled afresh, to hear His voice, and to be transformed and empowered for the sake of the world around us.

This week, I invite you to reflect on Pentecost as the beginning of a new phase — our present phase — in God’s unfolding plan. Check out this video from the Bible Project to see how Pentecost connects with our history, informs our present, and prepares us for the future: Bible Project: Pentecost, Acts 1-7 - Luke-Acts Series

Also, reflect on what Pentecost means for the Vineyard by connecting with our history. Every family has a collection of old VHS tapes that are cringy but powerful moments of great reminders of the times that defined who we are. This video is a grainy, pulled-from-VHS clip of a Pentecost moment that helped shape the Vineyard movement. Check it out here: John Wimber: Come, Holy Spirit The Spirit comes: Mothers Day 1980

Let’s celebrate that we are a Pentecost-ed people — a church empowered by the Spirit to live out and advance the Kingdom of God here and now.

Can’t wait to celebrate with you on Sunday. Feel free to invite friends and family to this joyous holiday!

Come, Holy Spirit!

Grace and peace,
Adam Greenwell
