Abide | The Parable of Faulty Identity

This is the first of two weeks we are focusing on the feastiness highlighted in the Gospel of Luke. This week, we explore the Parable of Faulty Identity (otherwise known as the Parable of the Invited Guests) and the lesson of humility that can be found there. Competition to sit in the place of honor comes from a desire to be seen and affirmed by Jesus and others. When we engage in this competition, we draw life from (or abide in) affirmation, not Jesus Himself. Listening to Jesus' voice of love helps us to know our own feast-worthiness and place at the table.
